ABSTRACT

Suppression of bone resorption is the principal pharmacological activity of bisphosphonates. Therefore, bisphosphonates are widely used in the treatment of osteoporosis. Although it has been documented that short-term therapy improves bone density, recent reports indicate that long-term bisphosphonates therapy causes femoral fractures. We present a case of bilateral femoral fracture in 73 years old female patient on long-term bisphosphonates therapy. (Turkish Journal of Osteoporosis 2012;18: 92-4)
