ABSTRACT

Diabetesmellitus (DM) andosteoporosisareserioushealthproblemsthatcausemorbidityandmortality, especially in middle-agedandelderlypopulation. An increasedfracture risk has beenreported in patientswith DM. However, thecomplexmechanismsunderlyingtherelationshipbetween DM andosteoporosisarestillunclear. Inthisarticle, coexistence of type 1 andtype 2 diabetesandosteoporosis as well as theeffects of diabeticcomplicationsandantidiabetictreatments on osteoporosisarediscussed.
